Gesha is a unique and highly sought-after coffee varietal known for its distinctive floral and fruity flavor profile, often winning awards at coffee competitions thanks to its exceptional quality. This particular coffee is light, easy to drink, and has a lovely floral aroma and notes of sweet mandarin. While it might be far from your daily cup, we like to think of it as an exceptional experience.
The washed process involves removing the coffee cherry’s outer layers through fermentation. After depulping the coffee cherries, the beans ferment in water, separating fruit from the beans. This method enhances the clarity and brightness of the coffee, often bringing out the coffee’s acidity and highlighting its unique origin flavors.
Israel Hernandez is a third-generation coffee producer who purchased his farm in Uribe, Tolima, Colombia, naming it Buenos Aires for its perfect weather and altitude at 1830m elevation. After initially growing Caturra and Castillo varieties, he learned about the Gesha varietal and planted 1200 trees in 2016. As he had planted them, he realized that specialty coffee of high quality required much more effort, and has since dedicated himself to mastering the art of growing great coffee with meticulous attention to detail.
